Open standards, interoperability and portability

Each row states a category, the interface or format it covers, and what is deliberately not claimed for it. The status column says whether that row is in the software today.

Standards and formats

Open standards, what is not claimed for each, and whether it is in the software today.
Category What it does What it does not claim Status
Open-standard consumption Consumption of OGC WMS (Maa- ja Ruumiamet base map and thematic layers; Copernicus EFFIS) and OGC WFS (Maa- ja Ruumiamet administrative units, and residential buildings as a P1 capability) — the Estonian national geoportal's own standard interfaces. OGC API-Features, OGC SensorThings, OGC CSW. Available now
Open-standard output GeoJSON (RFC 7946, WGS84) and CSV (RFC 4180, UTF-8) export of every Saku layer, each file carrying a provenance block. Shapefile, GeoPackage, CityGML. Available now
NGSI-LD orientation A read-only NGSI-LD-formatted JSON-LD export of Saku entities (AdministrativeArea, WeatherObserved, Building, and Alert-shaped warnings) using the pinned ETSI core @context and the corresponding Smart Data Model names where they fit, labelled an NGSI-LD-formatted read-only export (not a context broker). A FIWARE Orion-LD context broker, subscriptions, or NGSI-LD API compliance. Available now
Coordinate systems Storage in WGS84 (EPSG:4326) and consumption of Estonian L-EST97 (EPSG:3301) services, with the transformation stated on screen. — Available now
Portability — stack Runs on a 100% open-source stack: Laravel, Vue, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, nginx and Docker. No proprietary map service and no proprietary database. “Runs anywhere with one command” — a Compose file is not part of this delivery. Available now
Portability — data No proprietary map tiles for Saku: the Maa- ja Ruumiamet public WMS is the base map, while OpenStreetMap tiles remain in the Bağcılar demonstrator. Every dataset is re-importable from its public URL by a console command. — Available now
Licences Every layer shows its licence: Maa- ja Ruumiamet open-data licence / CC BY 4.0-equivalent with attribution; Keskkonnaagentuur attribution; EFFIS terms. — Available now
Estonian standards Use of the official ADS/EHAK settlement codes from the national register, with Estonian interface terminology aligned to the KORKS vocabulary (kriisikomisjon, olukorrapilt). An X-tee/X-Road connection, or EE-ALARM. Available now

What portability means here

Every component of the running system is open source, and the database is PostgreSQL with PostGIS rather than a proprietary spatial engine. Nothing in the stack requires a licence key, a hosted map account or a vendor agreement to run.

The public data the Saku workspace is built on stays re-importable from the public URLs it came from, so the working set can be rebuilt from the original sources rather than recovered from us.
